Biography
Samuel Conner, born 1950 in Glen Cove, New York: and grew up in Locust Valley, New York and while entering my senior year of high school, I was asked to write an article for the local newspaper about my opinion of race relations. We're talking 1968 then. Congressman Lester Wolff of our district read it and read my speech before the Senate and House of Representatives. It was then officially entered into The Congressional Record. He sent a copy for me of the Congressional Record to the editor of the Locust Valley Leader newspaper. After graduating Locust Valley High School, I entered the army where I became a communications specialist. In 1980, I received an AOS degree in Marketing and Management. In 1984, I formed Sam Conner Installations, Inc. and evolved my business into Sam Conner Flooring. In 2002, I became flooring expert for a national retailer. I retired in 2011 and took a 7000 mile journey; which would become the inspiration for my book, My Motorcycle Ride Across The Country, Destination The Vietnam Memorial. I had always enjoyed creative writing in high school as well as public speaking as Chairman and founder of The Locust Valley Neighborhood Watch and co-founder of Nassau County Civilian Police Academy Alumni Association. I hope that you enjoy my first published book and are able to gain an understanding of the challenges, which are even present 40 years later, of the veterans of the Vietnam era veterans. I want to thank those that have emailed me and thanked me for writing the book and the comfort that it has brought. I still enjoy riding my motorcycle year round in the beautiful North Carolina weather, flying my remote control helicopters and most of all learning and discovering from my grandchildren. My favorite TV shows are "Law And Order Criminal Intent", "House", and "HGTV". Featured Skills & Endorsements
